The Road Less Travelled

Picture

I thought I had it all together
I thought I had it all worked out
There were never many questions
And maybe just a shadow of doubt
I knew where I was going
Just like I know from where I came
And I needed no one to guide me
I would make it just the same

I used to think that I was in control
When I was really in a mess
And my searching for life’s meaning
Was often a futile quest
As I headed for the fast lane
To get where I wanted to go
Oh I knew all about the right road
But I just didn’t want to know

 Chorus
Now I’m on the road less travelled
On the road to God knows where
I know it’s not going to be easy
But it’s the only way to get there
Thank God you gave us choices
When you sent us on our way
But it’s only the road less travelled
That leads back to you one day

I thought I that I was going places
But I was only going round and round
And one by one my best laid plans
Were all to run aground
Now I know that life has meaning
Only when you show the way
And the further that I make it on my own
The further that I go astray

Now I think I’ve got it all together
I think I’ve got all worked out
But there are oh so many questions
And maybe just a shadow of doubt
I don’t know where I was going
Just like I know from where I came
But with your love to guide me
I can make it the same

So follow the road less travelled
